Asian HDPE / Trading slows before the year's end / Virgin HDPE prices fall to a record low

The Asian market for recycled high-density polyethylene was quiet during the lull of the year end in the week ending Dec. 18. Recycled HDPE black blow mold pellets were also steady at $565/mt, FOB Southeast Asia. Recycling companies have noted that demand has slowed down as the festive season approaches. They also reported a decrease in inquiries and discussions. Sources said that market participants were on the sidelines, and fundamentals of demand and supply were not changing. HDPE Southeast Asia Film prices in virgin markets were down $30/mt from last week to $920/mt due to a sluggish market.
