Asian ABS prices edge lower as producer offerings remain stable or lower / China ABS operating rate rises 0.5% / Participants in East China expect higher demand - Sep 30, 2024

The Asian acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia markers at $1,440/mt and $1,460/ mt, both $5/mt lower on the week Sept. 25, as some producers were heard lowering their offers. According to a producer, buyers were on the sidelines due to volatility in the upstream market. The upstream CFR China styrene Monomer Marker at $1,059.50/mt September 25, down $22/mt from the previous week. Butadiene was $10/mt more expensive on the week at $1,580/mt CFR China, while the acrylonitrile CFR Fareast Asian marker remained stable at $1150/mt September 24. Feedstock prices fell by $12/mt over the past week. Market participants expect more ABS capacity in East China to be online soon as a major manufacturer enters the next stage of capacity expansion.
