Northeast Asia remained stable at $920/mt on May 31. Sources said that
discussions for bottle-grade PET in China were sparse, as buyers had already
secured product for June loading earlier. Sources
said that in the polyester yarn and fiber markets, sales and production of
polyester increased over the last three weeks. A trader stated that the near-term outlook was a little
pessimistic compared with last year's same time period, but not bad compared to
downstream products. The operating rate of
polyester plants was estimated to be 90% last week, up from the previous week's
