In a week of thin trading, the Asian polyethylene market remained largely stable. Domestic activity in China picked up after market participants returned from the Lunar New Year holiday. The Dalian Commodity Exchange saw a rebound in futures. The most actively traded linear, low density polyethylene may 2025 futures rose Yuan 55/mt from day to day and reached Yuan 7854/mt excluding the tank on February 12. Trading was thin on the dollar market, with very few offers. According to a trader, downstream factory operating rates were around 30%-40% for PE end products. Prices in China for LDPE rose as a result of expectations that supply would be tightened due to several upcoming turnarounds at plants.
