Asian PET prices remain stable due to concerns about freight / Longer journeys stymie European interest in SE Asia cargoes / Upstream MEG Slips $4.50/mt in Week

Spot discussions on the Asian polyethylene market for terephthalate were impacted by high freight rates caused by hostilities in Red Sea. This continued through June 19. A trader stated that vessels taking the longer route from Asia to Europe via the Cape of Good Hope stifled buying interest for FOB Southeast Asia shipments for the European Market. The trader said that tradable indicators in Southeast Asia were stable for the week, at $960-970/mt FOB SE Asia. Selling indications for PET bottles chips in China were higher than the previous week, at $895 - $900/mt, FOB Northeast Asia.
