Asian Caprolactam Prices Stable as Activity Slows / Spot discussion remains thin / Buyers Expect Lower Prices Outside China

The Asian caprolactam price was stable on a week-to-week basis at $1,490/mt FAR East Asia Jan. 23 as the market activity remained low in the weeks leading up to the Lunar New Year. The markets outside of China were sluggish, as participants continued to rely heavily on contract volumes and showed little interest in spot cargoes. Prices for caprolactam were mixed on domestic Chinese markets. On Jan. 23, the price of the molten grade (the most actively traded) in east China was around Yuan 10,650-10750/mt, rising by about Yuan 100 to 150/mt from week to week. Prices for the solid form remained stable at Yuan 11,100-11,100/mt.
