Styrene prices drop by $53.75/mt / Total Energies Gonfreville plant restarts operations

Styrene fell in price on June 3, as supplies increased. Styrene loading for five-to-30-days ahead was $1,230.25/mt at FOB ARA June 3, down by $53.75/mt compared to May 31. This is based on the contango structure that exists between June and August. TotalEnergies' Gonfreville facility resumed operations on May 31. The French styrene plant in Gonfreville was shut down by TotalEnergies on April 3, due to problems with a steam-cracker. The demand for European styrene, and its derivatives, has been lower than expected at this time of the year.
