The
European naphtha price continues to drop on May 15, despite the market
sentiment that indicates a long-term market. According
to sources, one of the reasons for the long European market was the strong
supply. Many Mediterranean and Persian Gulf cargoes arrived in Northwest Europe
during a period when Asian buyers were not interested. According
to Kpler Shipping Data, the forecast for NWE imports in May is 755,000 mt
compared to 657,000 mt last month. Market participants are still
expecting a large amount of arbitrage to Asia, as East-West Spreads have
remained in positive territory. This is due to a decline in European prices,
and heightened sentiment in Asia. The spread for the front-month was
