US Recycled PET prices in the Midwest and Southeast continue to rise / Midwest and Southeast see strong demand / Weak demand for clear flake persists in the US West Coast

In the Midwest and Southeast, prices for recycled polyethylene Terephthalate saw a slight increase in the week ending August 14 due to persistently high demand. A seller stated that "we still see a great deal of interest and competition in August" for bales. According to sources on the market, the competition to buy post-consumer bottles bales in the Midwest and Southeast has increased, leading to higher bids from bale buyers. A buyer stated that the margin for negotiation was thinner than it was last month. Demand and prices of clear flakes have increased slightly downstream, due to rising feedstock bales and higher buying appetites for domestic material.
