Spot PGP prices firm up by nearly 3 cents/lb in the past week / Enterprise expects Mont Belvieu Texas PDH to complete its turnaround in May

US polypropylene activity was very low during the week ending May 1. Polymer-grade propylene prices rose by 7% compared to a week earlier, prompting participants on the market to wait for a decrease in feedstock price volatility. During the period April 25 - May 1, no new spot export indicators were heard in either homopolymer or co-polymer grades. Market sources say that until PGP costs stabilize, downstream PP activity is likely to remain low, as participants wait for lower-risk conditions. One source stated that exports were still risky, as PGP is just starting to stabilize. I believe that export offers will continue to increase throughout May, if PGP stays in the low 40s.
