Sources said that in the week before May
24, the prices were impacted by a lack of demand in key sectors, preventing
them from increasing as much as the monomer feedstock upstream. Sources said that an increase of Eur20-22/mt is
the standard settlement for contracts that are freely negotiated. A thin
demand and rising prices led to a wide range of settlements. One producer said
they made settlements up to Eur55-52/mt over April or as low as rolling over. A producer
reported that the demand from the appliance industry had started to decline,
after a downward trend in packaging and a slowing construction season. They added
that sales volumes were on the decline...
