Asia PE: Prices of LLDPE and LDPE rise due to tightening supply in SE Asia, HDPE remains stable / LLDPE and LDPE supplies in SE Asia are tightening / Prices in China trend up amid restocking

The Asian polyethylene markets closed with mixed results in the week ended Oct. 16. LLDPE and LDPE were trending upwards amid restocking activities, while HDPE prices remained stable due to unchanged fundamentals of demand and supply. LLDPE film CFR Asia is now $960/mt. This is up $10/mt from the previous week due to increased demand and restocking. The demand for agricultural films was not significantly improved, as downstream film factories were operating at 50%-60% of their capacity. LDPE film FE Asia CFR also increased $20/mt in a week to $1140/mt due to tight supply and imports. Participants on the market noted that Middle East offers were down this month.
