US Gulf spot methanol was 2 cents/gal less
than the day before, March 3, when Koch's Louisiana facility for methanol began
reopening. Sources claim that the St. James
facility, Louisiana's 1.8 million mt/year plant, was down since February 27th,
following an unplanned outage. Sources say that the unit is now in
full operation and could resume normal operations for the week starting March 6. The source
stated that it usually takes 2-3 days for plants to return to full (or even
full-ish) rates. Although prices had been stable since February
23, falling offers during the day on March 3, pushed down the day's price. According
