Lower spot prices for May quoted by sources / European ethylene contract price falls Eur10/mt

In the week leading up to May 1, the European market for linear low density polyethylene remained significantly under pressure due to the availability of competitive imported products. According to sources, the supply of LLDPE grades has increased. Imports from the US, Middle East and Asia have been heard on the spot market. Sources on the market reported that prices were lower than in April but that buying interest remained low over the last week. A distributor stated that "[there are] many offers on the market. This was a great deal of competition for orders and this meant that there was pressure on spot prices."
