The FOB butadiene markets declined over the
week ending March 24, as weaker Asian prices reduced export demand. The week saw little
activity in the European spot market, which was largely based on the same
supply and demand fundamentals. A consumer
stated that there was not much movement in the butadiene markets. "Demand remains very weak and producers are operating
at lower rates." The FD Northwest
Europe butadiene spot prices at Eur880/mt March 24 remained steady over the
week. The domestic European markets showed
a steady momentum but export prices fell due to lower Asian prices, which
weakened the desire to ship butadiene from Asia. A producer stated that "[The] spot volume available for
