US LLDPE export prices drop on week / Hexene and metallocene grades are unchanged / Domestic CP Talks not concluded by August

In the week ending September 4, the prices of linear low density polyethylene FAS Houston were either stable or lower. Slow September offers emerged as the market struggled to deal with fundamentals that are constantly challenging. Spot export liquidity was very low in the first half of August 29-September 4 as the market waited for September price announcements from producers. By the end, traders and distributors reported that offers were divided into two groups. Some producers offered at the same prices as in H2 of August and others at prices between 22-$44/mt below H2 August. On August 29, deals for butene grade LLDPE railcars were discussed at 42 cents/lb.
