Asian oxo-alcohols prices remained largely stable for the week ended Feb. 27, with prices unchanged for normal butanol, phthalic anhydride, isobutanol and dioctyl phthalate, while the market sees lower prices week on week for dioctyl teraphthalate and 2-ethyl hexanol. In the Asian 2-ethyl hexanol market, weakness in Chinese domestic prices had a cascading effect on the dollar-denominated market, as buyers negotiated for lower prices. Prices in the domestic 2-EH market fell as much as Yuan 200/mt on the week at Yuan 7,600-7,700/mt in Shandong Feb. 27. Several sources indicated that price negotiations were centered around $1,000/mt on FOB basis, although buyers were seeking prices below this level, while sellers were holding out for higher offers.
