Prices drop $33/mt in a week / Benzene prices fall in Europe and China, but rise in Korea

The price of Latin American benzene fell significantly in the week ending Nov. 8 as a result of the fall in US Gulf Coast benzene. Latin American benzene prices were $806/mt, FOB Brazil, Nov. 8. This was down $33 from the previous week. The US Gulf Coast was also 12 cents/gal cheaper. USG benzene for the prompt month was priced at 302 cents/gal and forward-month USG benzene at 305 cents/gal. The pricing was determined by prompt and forward-month US Gulf Coast FBO assessments, using a formula that takes into account freight costs of $100/mt. The exchange rate of the Brazilian real to the US dollar was Real 5.73/$1 on Nov. 8 compared to Real 5.80/$1 one week earlier.
