South Asian polyethylene was stable during the week ending Oct. 9, despite fewer offers, thin trading and unchanged discussion levels. Sources reported that the fundamentals of demand and supply did not change significantly, while import discussion levels were stable for most PE grades. An international supplier stated that, with the adjacent markets firming, suppliers can divert India allocations, even if India's domestic prices drop. A trade source reported that the price of LDPE film has been stable to firm as the supply for general-purpose grades has tightened. A major domestic producer stated that a general downward trend in prices was less likely. Unexpected demand growth before festivals has not been observed by a trader. Most price indications for LDPE Film were unchanged from the previous week, and ranged between $1,120-$1,140/mt....
