South Asia's polyethylene market experienced largely stable prices during the week ended Jan. 15, despite a PE plant shutdown in Punjab and two other polymer producers reportedly planning to stop production in the coming days. HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited in India halted PE production at their facility in Punjab's Bhatinda District due to technical problems. Sources say that two other major PE producers in India will also cease production in the coming days. A major international supplier stated that the local market was strengthening, and future offers to India were expected to be higher. Sources on the market confirmed that major PE manufacturers in India have also discontinued discount schemes.
