In the week ending Oct. 16, there was little trade, and so the South Asian polyethylene markets remained weak. Although buying ideas were discussed below, offer levels couldn't be confirmed. One source claimed that demand was constant and consistent across grades, but the festive push had not yet been felt. While domestic sentiment was weaker, a second source stated that lower offers were not heard. The HDPE grades (films, blowmolding, and injection) were discussed by market players as having seen a weak general demand coupled with sufficient local inventories that made imports less attractive. One source reported that the LLDPE film grades for general use and metallocene remained stable despite lower stock levels.
