Prices of HDPE recycled in Asia are rising due to increased demand in India / HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited halts PE production / Chinese market is sluggish

In the week ending Jan. 15, the Asian market for recycled high-density plastic grew, mainly due to a stronger demand from the Indian market. On Jan. 15, recycled HDPE film pellets were up $10/mt over the previous week to $755/mt FOM Southeast Asia. HDPE black blow-molding pellets also increased by $10/mt over the past week to $575/mt FOS Southeast Asia. Following the closure of some plants in India, both buying appetite and prices have increased. HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited in India halted PE at its facility located in Punjab's Bathinda District due to technical problems, according to a source from the company.
