India's R-PET market falls amid weak demand, and interest shifts towards cheaper V-PET / High feedstock costs affect flakes sales / US and Europe hit by high-priced material

R-PET clear pellets are down $50/mt from the previous week to $1,350/mt. This is due to the high price of flakes on the domestic market and the cheaper virgin PET. Trading activity for clear flakes was low over the past week. The range was $910-$960/mt. Trading activity for food-grade pellets has been low throughout the week. Sources on the market expressed concern about the current situation, as higher feedstock costs have pushed up the price of flakes and directly affected demand for recycled material. The situation has been made worse by falling virgin PET prices, as well as a gradual increase in PET resin production.
