Asian Ethylene prices down amid waning market indicators- Buy/sell
gap remains large- Participants hope for a stronger Chinese
economic recoveryThe gap between the buy-sell prices on the
Asian ethylene markets remains large. On the back of the deals completed on May 25, lower buying
indications have been heard. These range from $770 to $780/mt CFR Northeast
Asia, for arrival in July. Selling
indications, on the other hand, remained strong, with participants citing
volatile prices for naphtha as a reason. Participants
are looking to a recovery on the Chinese market as a way to support downstream
markets and improve margins. Some sources
on the market said crackers from South Korea and China are ending their
turnarounds, which will increase supply as demand is still stalled. "I believe the market will be heavily dependent on the
Chinese economy....
