Asian LDPE market trending down as prices cool

The price of low density polyethylene in Southeast Asia continued to soften during the week ending July 24 as buyers continued to resist the high offers. LDPE film grades CFR SE Asia were down $10/ mt from the previous week to $1,250/mt by July 24. A trader said that there is still a demand for LDPE, but buyers no longer chase high prices. LDPE film prices were around $1.250-$1,280/mt throughout the week, compared with $1,300/mt a few weeks earlier. Sources said that trading activity in China for dollar-denominated goods was low due to the summer lull and bearish sentiments. LDPE film grades were stable at $1,150/mt FAR East Asia last week while Chinese domestic LDPE dropped Yuan 95/mt from the previous week to Yuan 9,940/mt Exworks East China. Prices are...
