Asian PET market continues to grow despite rising feedstock prices / PET in NE Asia is up on feedstock gains / Speculative purchases rise on the back of oil gains

In Asia, the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) market continued its upward trend in the week ending October 9, mainly due to higher feedstock prices. Most producers in Northeast Asia increased their offers following the Golden Week holiday. This was due to higher crude oil and feedstock costs, as well improved demand. A Chinese producer stated that the demand has improved. Monoethylene glycol upstream prices increased by $22/mt in a week, to $582/mt F.R.C. China on October 9. Supply levels are now high, as some plant maintenance has been completed. A trader said that the spot market is not yet experiencing significant inventory pressure.
