Asian PET market extends downtrend as upstream cost weaken / Producers lower their offers amid limited trading / Market sentiment cautious, buyers holding back

The Asian Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), spot prices, continued to decline in the week ended October 30, as softer upstream costs limited support for prices. The majority of producers and traders reduced their offers due to limited trading and lower crude and feedstock costs. Monoethylene glycol fell $6/mt on a week-on-week basis to $540/mt CIF China on October 30, while purified Terephthalic Acid dropped $15/mt over the same time period. Sources said that despite some purchases, the market's sentiment was cautious. Buyers were holding off on purchases because of price uncertainty.
