USGC Aromatics Prices Drop Slightly Week on Week Due to Limited Spot Market Activity / Spot market activity is limited / No MX or toluene expected imports in August

On August 9, the US Gulf Coast saw a decrease in xylene prices and toluene due to a lack of activity on the spot market. Toluenes of nitration grade and commercial grade fell by 1 cent/gal per week. Mixed xylenes were flat during the same time period. A distributor said that there was limited spot market activity in the US Gulf Coast area and no imports of MX, toluene or MX from Asia are expected in August. US Customs data revealed that no MX cargoes or toluene were received by the US during the week ending August 8. The Octane market has been met. Blenders have secured inventory for the season.
