Asia PE : SE Asia market softens due to sluggish Chinese demand / End-users of SE Asia are covered in the near term / HDPE prices in China fall to a record low

Prices on the Southeast Asian polyethylene markets dipped in the week ending Dec. 18 due to a lackluster demand in advance of the festive season. The week saw several new Middle East deals and the level of the deals was lower than the previous month because there were fewer buyers. The end-users had enough cargo for the short-term, and they were not in any hurry to buy. LLDPE, LDPE and other plastics prices have declined from week to week. LLDPE CFR SE Asia dropped $10/mt, to $960/mt. LDPE CFR SE Asia also fell $10/mt, to $1140/mt. HDPE prices fell $30/mt in a week, to $920/mt Dec. 18, compared with the previous week.
