Asia PE: muted trading as buyers stay on the sidelines / Southeast Asia buyers prefer buying from local traders / Sinopec INEOS restarts HD & LL plants

The Asian polyethylene market was quiet in the week ending December 11, as buyers remained largely on the sidelines. The buying of dollar-denominated goods in China remained low amid bearish sentiments. HDPE CFR Far East Asia fell $20/mt from the previous week to $890/mt, Dec. 11, due to a lack of demand and lower market offers. LLDPE CFR Far East Asia remained stable at $930/mt. Domestic LL prices, however, were slightly higher due to tighter domestic supply as a result of ongoing plant maintenance. Sources in Southeast Asia said that the end-users have already finished their restocking and the majority of Middle East suppliers have also finished their orders for this month.
