US LLDPE prices stable or higher despite challenging fundamentals / Market awaits further price declines / LLDPE railcars heard at 42-45 cents/lb

Prices for linear low density polyethylene on an FAS Houston base were unchanged to slightly higher August 14 compared with the previous week, as participants struggled to deal with a lackluster purchasing appetite. Supply was also readily available. The price of rail cars for butene (42-45 cents/lb), hexene (43-44 cents/lb) and metallocene (44-45cents/lb) was discussed in the range 42 to 45 cents/lb during the week ended August 14. Rail car values for Butene were repeated at a level of 43 cents/lb. Hexene was heard at a repeatable 43-44 cents/lb. Metallocene was heard at a repeatable 44-45 cents/lb. Hexene and Metallocene grades were flat compared to a week earlier, but Butene was up $11/mt.
