The Qingming festival in Northeast Asia
caused a slowdown in trade in Asian PET markets during the week that ended
April 5. Producers
increased their offers citing higher upstream PX, PTA and MEG prices. Market sources indicated that margins for PET chips in
bottle grades were healthy. However, margins for polyester fiber and yarn
grades were still low. As the demand for
finished goods facilities continued to be weak, there were not many deals for
yarn grades and polyester fiber. Some
market participants cited uncertainty following the announcement of OPEC+'s
production cut. Russia and key OPEC+ partners stated April 2 that they would
make more than 1.6million b/d of voluntary supply reductions in total. The bulk
