Asia PE : Few changes in China and Southeast Asia / Demand in China and Southeast Asia remains weak / Firmer offers expected in Southeast Asia next week

The Asian polyethylene market saw little change in the week ending February 19, as the demand is still sluggish and buyers are on the sidelines. Prices for dollar-denominated goods in China were mostly stable during the week despite a lack of trading. Prices of domestic LDPE films continued to increase week-on-week amid expectations that supply would be tightened due to upcoming plant shutdowns in China and the Middle East. Chinese domestic LDPE is up Yuan50/mt to Yuan10,050/mt (exworks east China). HDPE and LLDPE films prices are also slightly higher. HDPE film prices increased by Yuan 30/mt on a weekly basis to Yuan 7,800/mt, ex-works East China. LLDPE film prices rose by Yuan 10/mt to Yuan 8,160/mt, ex-works East China.
