Sources said that the European naphtha
markets saw the prompt price fall on the day, and the contango structure grew
steeper along the curve. The
spread between June and July fell by $3/mt to $1.25/mt. The July/August spread, which reflects a longer market as
well, continues to decline by 50 cents/mt per day to minus 2/mt. In the meantime, the East-West spreads – the difference
between CFR Japan naphtha swaps and CIF equivalents – rose into positive
territory amid a weaker European market. East-West
spreads for the front-month increased by $3.75/mt and are now $2.25/mt. The
August spread also rose by $2.50/mt. The
Asia market saw new tender activity by end-users for naphtha, but the supply
