Prices for USG benzene in May were 370 cents/gal, DDP USG. In the face of bearish pricing, it is understandable that sellers were reluctant to offer new volumes. No new spot offers have been reported in the market since May 2. A source on the logistics side reported that "from the shipping perspective, it's been quiet", suggesting there's also a limited appetite from the buyer side to acquire new tonnes. Uncertainty surrounds the timing of benzene's demand, but one source suggested that better economic conditions could support the market. Similar to the forward month of June, trading activity was low and prices were lowered due to weak market fundamentals, at 368 cents/gal USG DDP.
