European Diesel Daily Market Analysis / LSGO Futures for the Front Month at a Four-Week Low / Syria's Banias Refinery is now operational following works

The European diesel markets continued to soften throughout the complex on February 5. The February ICE LSGO contract for the front month was down $13/mt at $700/mt. This is a new four-week-low. The prompt spread between February and March also narrowed by 25 cents/mt, resulting in a backwardation of $3.25/mt. The Northwest European ULSD cargo difference to LSGO Futures fell $1/mt and was assessed at $9/mt. Its Mediterranean counterpart remained unchanged at $10.25/mt. In the UK, the number of new cars registered in January was 139,345 units, a 2.5% decrease from last year. The SMMT cited weak consumer confidence as well as tough economic conditions for the decline.
