On May 24, the ethylene prices in Northeast
Asia and Southeast Asia were both down $10/mt per day, at $830/mt for NE Asia
and $890/mt for SE Asia. On
May 23, a deal at $870/mt CFR China was reported to have been concluded,
showing trade interest in the region. A
deal was done for $790/mt of CFR Northeast Asia, with an arrival in July, which
lowered the buying indications. This reflects a persistent bearishness on the
market. Participants in the market cited
unhealthy margins on downstream markets as another major cause of lower demand. We expect the market to be more supple in the future due to
