European Acrylonitrile Spot Price Falls Due to Seasonally Lower Demand / Spot price drops $40/mt in a week / Derivative Market Conditions Weaken

The European acrylonitrile industry was slow in the week ending August 13, as demand declined due to a seasonal slowdown. The lackluster activity on the market was due to the summer holidays in Europe, especially the South. Participants were closing down for vacations. CIF ARA's spot price dropped $40/mt in a week, to $1340/mt. This was on August 13. The derivative market also weakened, with an ACN market participant citing declining appetite for feedstock ACN material in key derivative acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene and acrylic fiber sectors. ABS is less in demand. Acrylamide is doing well. "Acrylamide fiber is not bad or good but... not as good compared to June or July", a producer stated.
