Asian Paraxylene Prices: Prices Edge Higher on Firmer Crude Oil; Demand Woes Persist / Eyes on term negotiation / Floating prices remain discounted

The price of Asian paraxylene rose slightly on Oct. 23 as crude oil prices increased, but spot demand remains low. Asian paraxylene prices rose $1/mt per day to $854/mt at CFR Taiwan/China on Oct. 23. The market participants are looking at PX 2025 term negotiations, the result of which will be expected by the end of this year. A PX producer from Asia stated that in the current scenario, with excess polyester supplies and a struggling polyester downstream market, term contracts may settle at a greater discount than the previous year.
