The price of Asian paraxylene rose on February 14, following the rise in crude oil, as traders focused their attention on cargoes arriving in May. On February 14, Asian paraxylene prices rose $5.33/mt from the previous day to $884.33/mt CIF Taiwan/China. The traders said that the strong crude prices drove the increase in PX spot price in the day. A trader from Thailand stated that he did not see any other factors, and attributed the rise in PX spot price to higher crude prices. The focus is now on cargoes arriving in May, which will start trading on February 17. Singaporean trader said that although demand signals were not strong, the market was showing signs of optimism.
