Asian Paraxylene prices drop as trade begins in January / Prices continue to fall / January trading begins

As trade for cargoes arriving in January began, prices for Asian Paraxylene were again down day by day. Asian paraxylene prices are down $9.34/mt from day to day, at $851.33/mt FCL Taiwan/China on Oct. 16. Sources said that PX prices are continuing to fall, and little change is expected in the near future. A trader from China stated that the problem with PX spot price is still the oversupply in Asia. The trader noted that with the margins for benzene and PX being squeezed, producers may be forced to make drastic changes in production. The trader stated that "since PX and BZ have both decreased a great deal, I'm afraid some factories will reduce their production rates to improve their profit."
