Prices of Asian paraxylene rose on Oct. 2, as tensions in Middle East drove up oil prices, and little trading activity was observed in Asia due to China's absence. On Oct. 2, Asian PX was up $19/mt from the previous day to $907/mt CFR Taiwan/China. PX trade in Asia was a bit lackluster due to China's Golden Week holiday. The day's prices were sharply higher due to the escalating tensions between the Middle East and the United States. Regional media reported that Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, vowed retaliation after Iran launched ballistic rockets at Israel on October 1.
