The prices of Asian Paraxylene have moved lower from week to week, as the frenetic activity in downstream has slowed down. Asian paraxylene is down $2/mt from day to day, at $830.33/mt F.R. Taiwan/China on Dec. 20. A trader in China reported that PX prices had dropped over the last few days due to weak macroeconomic sentiment and softer downstream activities. The trader said that last week, sales of polyester in China increased as producers lowered prices, causing a buying frenzy. The trader added that the same demand momentum is not present this week, which has slowed the price increase.
