Asian Paraxylene prices rally to 3-month high / PX spot activity is firm / South Korea's exports in 2024 will be higher than those of 2023 - Jan 16, 2025

The price of Asian Paraxylene reached a new three-month high, as the mood improved once more on the backs of the ongoing supply restrictions in the region. Asian paraxylene prices rose $12.33/mt in one day to $888.33/mt F.R. Taiwan/China on Jan. 15. This is the highest price since Oct. 11, 2020, when the price was $897.67/mt. Sources said that PX prices are still firm and outshine upstream crude oil and naphtha. A Chinese trader stated that "it seems the price of PX is higher and the floating premium is also stronger." A second trader said that the support is still coming from the supply-side, with production limits in place.
