Asian Paraxylene: Prices fall tracking crude values / Chemical freight market quite firm / August ACP fails

As crude oil prices declined, the price of Asian paraxylene fell. Asian paraxylene prices fell $3.34/mt in a single day to $1,005.33/mt at CFR Taiwan/China. Sources said that PX prices have lost recent gains due to the weaker crude oil value. A trader from Singapore stated that the freight market was fairly stable for smaller chemical vessels, as demand for palm oils shipments is growing. The trader stated that the freight rates for the smaller ships of 10,000-15,000 mt are still holding steady. Brokers said that owners of these ships maintain freight rates as demand for palm oil increases.
