Asian Paraxylene: PX edge up on hope of lower production / PX Operation Rates Cut by Some Producers / Spot volume to decline next year: trader

Prices for Asian Paraxylene ended the week ending Nov. 22 with a stronger note, amid expectations that production in Asia will be reduced. The Asian Paraxylene prices are up $1.33/mt for the day to $827.33/mt F.Taiwan/China on Nov. 22. The news that some Japanese and South Korean manufacturers are lowering their production rates may provide some much-needed support for PX prices. A PTA producer from Asia confirmed this development citing "high inventories" as the reason. One South Korean petrochemical company confirmed that it had reduced its operation rates between 10%-15% in November and December. No confirmation was received from the Japanese PX manufacturers.
