Prices for Asian paraxylene rose on the day due to an increase in demand from producers of purified terephthalic acids, which led to a short-term shortage in supplies. Asian paraxylene was up $9/mt for the day, at $1,047.67/mt, CFR Taiwan/China, June 12. PX prices were on the rise due to the currentnear-term shortage, according to one trader from Singapore. He added that the increase in interest in purchasing PTA in China helped absorb PX supply in the region. The trader in Singapore said that the increase in PTA exports from China is one of the reasons for the recent rise in PX price.
