Asian Paraxylene: Inching up as downstream remains solid / PTA Futures are stable / Middle East producers reluctant to sign term contracts

Prices for Asian Paraxylene rose slightly on the day, as polyester downstream activities in China remain strong. Asian paraxylene is up $1.33/mt/day at $824.33/mt/mt CFR Taiwan/China on Dec. 13. Data from ZCE shows that the Zhengzhou Commodities Exchange's futures prices were firm to stable despite a drop in crude oil and naphtha prices. The same data show that at the Asia close the TA 2501 closed at Yuan 4.798/mt, compared with Yuan 4.784/mt on the previous day. According to a trader from China, the firm PTA Futures is a result of the downstream polyester activity that continues to be at high levels.
