Prices of Asian paraxylene rose due to higher oil prices and expectations of increased demand in the run-up to the recent holidays. Asian paraxylene was up $6/mt for the day, at $864/mt F.R. Taiwan/China on February 5. The recent volatility of oil prices is the main reason for the increase in PX prices. Traders said. One trader from China stated that China just returned from a holiday of a week and the last week has seen little activity. A Japanese trader said that the demand for March and April is decent, but not very promising compared to what it was in May.
