Prices for US oxoalcohol were stable in the
week ending June 1. Demand continues to be low. Sources said that there was no indication of
price changes in n-butanol or 2-ethylhexanol. However, the market is expected
to relax further with the increased supply from restarted plants in China and
the United States. China's Luxi Chemical restarted their 450,000
mt/year no. The No. 3 swing plant for oxo-alcohol was
restarted on May 25, after an explosion in the unit at Liaocheng (Shandong)
caused its unplanned shutdown May 1. Luxi
Chemical operates three swing plants in Liaocheng, which can produce NBA and
2EH. The combined capacity is around 850,000 mt/year. Nan Ya
Plastics, Unv1’s largest 2-EH manufacturer, was also expected by May 25 to
restart its 205,000mt/year...
